• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 DAAG crosswind runways.

DAAG in my humble opinion, is a real challenge for all AFCAD concerned FS9 simmers.
I have applied Jim Vile's crosswind techniques to many airports successfully except
that airport and another with similar lay-out, LEMD. Despite my efforts taken days
and days, they both remain out of my reach.
DAAG has two runways (namely : 09/27 & 05/23) in a smart and practicable lay-out
with a VOR/DME in between them. As I understand, in real life 09 & 05 are used for
landing & take-off respectively with easterly prevailing winds and reversely with
westerly ones 23 & 27.
Using ADE9 I added xwind runways until I (think) made FS9 think they are parallel.
And of course, assigned patterns accordingly.
Both runways are the same size long (3500m). With easterly winds I made it.
09 is used by FS9 ATC for landing & 05 for take-off. But, when it comes to prevail
westerly winds ATC uses only 27 for both take-off and landing. By no means 23 is used
by AI traffic even though 23 is available for user plane.
I tried slightly changing the length of the one f them with no luck (sometimes still
uses 09 & 05 instead even with west winds).
Something similar happens at LEMD, where ATC persists to use 36L for landing instead of
take-off only
So now I 've run out of ideas....
Any other ideas, Jim, or anyone else, would be welcome.

Some airport runways refuse to cooperate the way we would like. For these type airport runways I can suggest trial and error (Xwind, open and close runways) which may or may not give you the results you are looking for.
