• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Dynamic traffic question

I'm wondering if the follwing is possible, as far as I know it is not.

I understand that ai traffic is normally bound to strict predefined timeframes - which means that you might see it or not, depending on the time you fly.
It would be nice if certain ai traffic could start with the beginning of your flight, as soon as you enter the scenario. Is this possible?

Sorry, might be a dumb question, but I'm not too deep in the subject. Just wondering.

Cheers,
Mark

Interesting. If you are after seeing certain plans fly, the only way I can see to do this is to make the flightplans you want, then go to that airport at the time you set up. Remember, there may be as much as ten minutes or so leaway in departure times.

Thanks for the reply, Bob. I was thinking of all kinds of traffic, expecially naval traffic (ships).
It would be nice if I could start a flight and see ships leaving or arriving at a harbour, or being on the way at a certain point at the start of the flight. No matter what time I fly.
Or aircraft flying patrols or flying constant circles around airfields.

The ai therefore should be bound to a certain scenery, initiated at the beginning of a flight.
But I guess this is not possible...

Cheers,
Mark

Now I understand. It is possible to create custom ai and ai boat traffic for a certain scenery. Check out the mission development forum.

If you are a programmer you could use simconnect to start AI - see the example in the SDK for AI. You could get you location - find the nearest airport and set to AI to do circuits. You could even get ships and animals to follow a route.
