• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

FSXA Effects not getting "bigger" in the distance

Hi,

some effects in FSX, like the fx_landing seem to get bigger when you move away from the source. They are not realy getting bigger, the on screen size (pixel x*y) is getting smaller when you move away, but relative to objects they get bigger.

I want to have the same with my approach light effect that is triggert via a controller, like mentioned in the Apron lighting using effects and GMax Tutorial
The base of my effect is the fx_landing, i only changed the color, but my effect is MUCH smaller in FSX and i dont know why.

Because i can only gues and test but at the moment i know there must be something hardcoded in the FSX to make the landing light "grow". Oh and its possible that some dont know what im talking about, i dont mean the ground wash of the landing light, i mean the glare.
Am i right with the hardecoded landing light?

So i want to talk about 2 other things that i have problems with at the moment.

A. My approach lights dont show up when i spawn at night (+dusk or dawn, i have to change switch to dusk or dawn (or night when i didnt spawn at night) to get them working. How can i fix that?

B. In the tutorial you can read that the controller or emitter workaround is NEEDED, because if not used the effect will not show up when flying to the airport (cause model spawns but no a/c near so effect not). But effects like the fx_lightObsRedSteady and fx_landing (and maybe others) show up, regardless what you do, without any controller or emitter lifetime at 0.
Is this also an result of any hardcoded stuff?
