• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Enhanced Taxiways

I have discovered from Google Earth that some airports have Enhanced Taxiways for better visibility. I was able to download the FAA regulations and specifications for these and the Hold Short Enhanced. I am able to create the Hold Short perfectly with Ground Poly Lines and Patterns. I was also able to do the same thing for the taxiways...the straight ones into the runway thresholds. Problem! I am able to perfectly follow the curved taxiway lines with the Ground Poly Line BUT and a BIG BUT, when they are opened up in FSX Acceleration, they do not follow the yellow taxiway lines but are not aligned with them even though they are done perfectly IMHO in Airport Design Editor V1.76 I am using. Is this an FSX problem that cannot be overcome. Do I have to say NONE for all the lines in ADEx for exactly measured taxiways enhanced and then connect with another taxiway that is not enhanced and do the same thing over and again? Looking for some ADEx expert advice. Thank you in advance.

A couple of pictures and your .ad4 file would help us understand better what you are seeing.

I should have done that, sorry. I deleted them when they did not work but I will create them again at Runway 13 and shoot screenshots in FSX and attach my KCSG.AD4 file with them on it. Thank you for ovvering to help. I will replay with the file and screenshots a little while later since I have to recreate the problem.

Here is a screenshot of enhanced taxiway lines created with the groundpoly line tool in ADEx. The taxiway has NONE for edges and centerline checked. I have drawn arrows to both and indicated them in text. I hope there IS a fix, something I am doing wrong and not an FSX MS glitch and they are not going to follow the centerlines. I have drawn these before at other airports I created but followed only the straight taxiway lines not the curves.

The yellow lines in ADE will not match the yellow lines in FS exactly. You can place your plane on top of the yellow lines in FS and move your enhanced taxiway to match this in ADE. If you do this at each end and in the middle of each enhanced taxiway (3 points) you should be able to get a good match. Yes it's slow, sorry.

I don't understand exactly what to do. I was afraid that they would not match the way I was doing it. Could you explain in more detail of place the plane on top of the yellow lines in FS. Is this using the Connect in ADE?

I figured out how to make this work by put the exact size of taxiway at the runway entrances and connect them with another taxiway. The exact size ones have the centerline removed so that way the curved entrance lines are no longer visible only the enhanced curved taxiway lines are. if the taxiway is straight and enhanced ADE follows it. It is as Tom Gibson said above slow process but it works. Have to go back and forth and measure each one on Google Earth and then back to ADE to draw it and back again for the next one but the result is accurate and looks good. also have the red runway rectangles where they belong on the taxiways. Interestingly at KCSG they are not all uniform size but I don't know why yet.
