• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

FSX Exporting Error

Hi everyone!
First I want to aplogyze because I am sure that this question was posted already, but I dindn't find it.
I am a complete newbie to FSX scenery design. I have some experience with the scenery design in FS9 but not much.
I installed the FSX SDK (and the Service packs) today, but everytime I want to export an object (e.g. box) there are coming some error messages:
"Convert Date failed", then:
"Failed to run exporter", then:
"failed to export model" and last:
"export module failure".

What did I do wrong, does anybody know?

lukas

PS: Sorry for my english.

Hi Lukas,

Your English is fine!

Did you follow the steps to install the Gamepack from the SDK as contained in the wiki?

http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Installing_FSX_GMax_gamepack

It is quite a complicated process for the uninitiated. You need the most recent (SP2) version of the SDK to have the Gmax gamepack properly installed.

The paths must be exactly right (or you'll get errors when you start Gmax)

Gmax must then be run using the FSX_Gmax icon.

Did the installation using these steps work ok?

(Wondering if the exporter doesn't like the "," as a decimal separator in the Windows settings)

I'm pretty sure I did it correctly.
Could it be a problem that the FS9 gmay-gamepack is installed, too?
I don't get any errors, when I'm starting gmax. The only time, I get errors (always the same ones) is when I want to export the model.

Hi,

The FS2004 and FSX gamepacks work independent of each other. So they will not conflict.

Did you double check the decimal character? This is often the cause of such errors.

Sorry, but what do you mean with the decimal characters? where should (or should not) the be?

Make sure that the comma is the decimal separator in the Windows Regional Settings (Control Panel). Or just choose English (United States) as your Region.

Hope this helps,

Ok I solved that problem, too. the language settings went back to german automaticall (don't know why...). It just works, when it is switched to english.
