• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Finding Correct APX.bgl file Number for Airports in MS2020

Is there a way to find the correct APX.bgl file number for correlating airports in (fs- base -genericairports) MS2020 It seem Key West in not recognized or found in ADE.
Is there a formula to the flight Sim APX coding system ? Or is there a way to point ADE to the APX.bgl files in fs- base -genericairports ?
Thanks.

Remember this thread ?

Yes I do and went there first, however the recommended program that reads the bgl. files is for P3D so I did not attempt it (No longer on the resource page) . Also the TMFViewer is no longer valid as it was designed for MS2004. I might be missing something as I never really got it working last time GaryGb just posted the APX.file number and I used it. Wonder why Key West doesn't show up?? There must be a comprehensive way to identify the airports within those APX.bgl files....................

I'll take a look at the options in MSFS and FS2Kx to find Key West tonight, as now you have me curious about this airport.

I have visited it in MSFS 2020 probably by typing the name into the Airport search field of the MSFS Teleport Tool

Yes, However in ADE it does not come up . KEYW- KMTH Key West and Marathon both on the Florida Keys are missing from the generic airport data base. Just trying to access through " create project from stock"

Ah, yes, IIRC, Jon attempted a fix for that, but Asobo kept moving the BGLs for Generic Airports.

Ok I have to apologize to all. After trying a number of different things I found that rhumbaflappy's post on renaming the baseAirportList.dat in the main ADE folder did the trick. How does this happen?? It was at 0kb

Before I posted this I should of checked an obvious major airport like KSFO to see if that came up.
Thanks for being responsive guys!!

Thanks for mentioning the baseAirportList.dat, as I could not recall which file name(s) it was for ADE2020_Alpha_21 that had required a fix.

When I get a chance I'll read through all these threads to see what the history was, and make certain my install is also fixed:

PS: Many thanks to Dick for linking "complete ADE2020_Alpha_21. zip", to simplify setting up a last working 'build' of ADE for MSFS. :)

FYI: My install from Dick's complete ADE2020_Alpha_21. zip did not require any edits to the ADE baseAirportList.dat.

When I:

* Selected ADE_20 Menu > File > Create Project From Stock <ADE's initial input form appears>

* Entered KEYW in the IDENT field

* Clicked the [Check] button

...ADE immediately 'finds' "Key-West-Intl" in the baseAirportList.dat and enters it into Airport Name field of that same ADE input form.

Thus, I assume Dick already fixed the info in baseAirportList.dat so it can find MSFS 2020's current fs-base-genericairports BGLs path. :wizard:
