• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Fixing an airport

There is a small but nice airport called Contadora (OTD) which I added to FS9 using AFCAD but had some problems. Then I used the version from a German guy. However I still experience problems when used in FS9.

  • When flying TO that airport, the flight simulator usually crashes when in the vicinity of the airport
  • It is possible to fly out of the airfield without crashing FS9
  • Since the terrain is not flattened some parts of the airfield are suspended in the air
  • Part of the airfield is shown as extending outside into the sea when in real life it runs from nearly one end to the other

I would like to know what I need to do to fix this issue. I would like to continue using OTD in FS9 and add it to FSX.

On a similar issue, I added night lights to an airport that has it in real life but not in FS9/X but these somehow show as extending beyond the runway when in reality these are the lights on the perimeter (sides) of the airfield.

Hi,

I think we need some more details here as things are quite confusing now.

  1. Did you create anything using AFCAD or did you use different tools aswell?
  2. You talk about using a version of someone else as well, what do you mean there?

About the flatten, I guess you need to add one yourself. This is also done for the airports in the default FS scenery.

About the night lighting, how did you add them? Using AFCAD as well? They should not continue outside of the runway (unless you are talking about approach lights of course).
