• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Flares for CFS2

I would like to know if it could be possible to create flares to illuminate targets at night in CFS2. If there are no flares in that sim, do they exist for FS2000/2002? Could they be converted/used for CFS2?

Thanks in advance.

Xavier.

Hey Xavier

im not aware of any flares in any version of fs, yet the fs2004 effects system is almost identical to the one used for fs combat 2 except for a few extra parameters for damage if i remember. You might wanna try and post over at avsim or other sites to see if anyone created any effects to this nature for fs2004....or you could try creating your own. Im just not sure how to get the effect working in combat 2 as im sure its different then fs9, all i have tried was using combat 2 effects in fs9 and worked well.

Thanks for the information. All light effects I had seen until now just show a color bitmap, but they don't really illuminate the surrounding landscape. The intention of this effect would be just that: a light that makes other objects visible (at least the silhouettes) at night. Will look for something similar at Avsim.

Best regards,

Xavier
