• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello,
I'm trying to place characters (from dave's collection) on a structure in the Grand Canyon (Cheops Pyramid). All the objects have the "Snap to Ground" option checked, but they're all floating a few feet in the air. Do you have any idea why this bug is happening and how to fix it? Thanks.

Snap to ground is just a 'switch' to allow you to adjust the 'altitude' of an object and so you need to drag/move the object downwards until its base us at the top of whatever is below it.

I've been developing in MSFS for six years and have published hundreds of scenery packages. All my objects were always on the ground with the "Snap to ground" option enabled. This is the first time my objects aren't responding to this setting.

I placed the same objects at Grand Canyon Village, and they all have ground contact. But not on this mountain or the surrounding ones.

Note:

When I started this scenery package, my objects weren't even visible. In the Package Reorder Tool, I moved my scenery to the bottom of the list. I assume it has priority since I can now see my objects.

I suspect there's some kind of automatic priority for certain types of Asobo scenery packages, like those containing points of interest...

You might need to apply a flatten under the people to secure a solid ground. Also, you may have a TIN under those objects, you could try a polygon to exclude TIN.

Sorry Jean-Pierre.
I got it around the wrong way. Yes of course normally with snap to ground if the object has its 'origin' set correctly snap to ground should normally set it at ground level.
Dick has suggested some good ideas.
