• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Lately there have been some questions about where you can still download the Fs2004 SDKs. I know MS is aware of this problem and are looking at a solution for this. But as a little extra service to the user of this site, I have added the download links for these SDKs on this site as well now. You can find them in the SDK section of the Download center.

All these links point directly to the MS download site, where the files still exist, even though FsInsider does not link to them at the moment. I hope these links are useful to those of you still working for Fs2004.

That is very nice, Arno! :)

Just yesterday I was searching the net for the fs2004-resample.exe and couldn't find it anywhere.

The links are also back on the FsInsider site know, you'll find a link to this support article there.

Dear Arno,

just new to this forum. Me I´m Tabea from EDDL and want to start with gmax for designing little scenery.
Now i found your wonderful forum and hope i get help here.

I ask myself what i need for gmax using with FS2004.

I downloaded all the skd from your site.

But anybody can answere me if (and when yes, where) need thin one:
...microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/fs2004_downloads_sdk.asp

Further on i read that i need MSXML 4.0

Sorry for this stupid questions but i found no hints of which programs i need in all.

Greetings from Tabea

Moin Tabea,

nice to see a new face in the designer's community. :)

Does the SDK not install properly? I'm not sure what you mean with the asp.

As for MSXML 4.0 - you can find it here.

Everything should install in the proper folder, so no magic needed for this. ;)

Hi Arno,

hm ok i try to explain (grrr english) what i mean is, the sdk found here on your site are ALL the needed sdk´s NO other thing need to work proper? Is that stuff the so called "gmax gamepack SDK"? If i read this evertime the link above is shown.

I read it e.g here: http://sk-flightsim.com/tutorials/gmax_installation.html

Hope i eplained it well enough with my little knowledge in foreign language.

Tabea

If you just want to export GMax models into fsx you simply need the GMax SDK, which is indeed the one in the SDK-section: GMax Gamepack

Well, ok, you'll also need the MDL-Maker (not sure if it is included in the GMax SDK):

MDL Maker SDK

Finally, to compile the exportet model into a scenery bgl you need the BGLComp:

BGLComp SDK

If you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask in german. ;)

Hi Thorsten,

thanks but the most here are written in english so i will do. And sorry that i thought you are Arno:banghead:

I use FS2004 not FSX hihi. Ok but i see that your link to the gamepack should be the answere i searched.

Now i try install all that funny stuff.

Thanks again.

And sorry that i thought you are Arno
I feel flattered. :D

Soory for "fsx" - I'm just so used to it. Of course I was talking about fs9.

Ah ok just me. *heul*

If i execute the gmax-sdk.exe have i install it in the directory (mine: c:\gmax) or where? Just confusing. Should go back to my admistration student office

As fas as I remember that's not important if you move the gamepack finally into the gmax/gamepacks/fs2004 folder.

(I hope that's right cause it's so long since I did this with fs9...)

Hi,

If you install the GMax gamepack to the folder where you installed GMax, everything should turn out fine. No need to move the gamepack yourself in that case.

The only thing you need to remember is that you must start GMax with the special shortcut that loads the gamepack. You can find it in the gmax\gamepack\fs2004 folder after you installed the SDK.
