FS9 crash after land at platform

Hi folks.

I'm using Sketchup + MDX to implement some little platforms to my helicopter sceneries. But I'm getting a crash when I'm trying to land at those platforms.

Design in Sketchup works fine. MDX attached object editor works fine. Export the model to FS9 mdl works fine. I have no problems adding the object with EZ-Scenery but FS9 crash if I try to land over the platform.

Any idea why is this happening?

Many thanks.

Martin

PD: Arno, MDX is one of the best tools ever made for FS scenery designers. Great job Sir.

Hello:

Are you saying that when you attempt to land on your custom Helipad:

  • FS9 itself crashes to the Desktop ?

If that is the case, does the crash occur before or after the bottom of the Helicopter contacts a "visible" part of the Helipad platform ?

...or are you saying:

  • Your Helicopter "falls through" the Helipad platform and crashes to the ground ?

FYI: Depending on your reply, the described crash instead of being an issue with Sketchup, might be an issue with ModelConverterX (aka "MCX").

If the issue appears to be a problem primarily with MCX, the dedicated MCX support forum is here:

Please let us know more about your crash scenario referred to above. :)

Hi Gary:

It's the first scenario. FS9 crash when the skids touch the defined landable plataform. That means, you may land properly but FS9 crash after land on it.

Regards.

Martin

PD: Sorry MCX not MDX :p

Hi Martin:

A few more questions:

Are you attaching any type of "visual Effect" (ex: a light or strobe effect in a *.Fx file) to the Model which also has the attached Platform ?

If so, have you confirmed any texture file that the *.Fx file uses is physically present in the [FS install path]\Effects\Texture sub-folder ?

Additionally, are you attaching "1" instance of the "hardened" platform, or several instances of that entity ?

I have the feeling this may prove to be of interest to Arno in further enhancing his MCX Effects Attachment Feature. ;)

Hi Gary:

This is a image of the model, how I use MCX's attached object editor to add an auto platform and the final aspect of the model.

Platform_issue.jpg

After add this platform I use Export to save the model as FS9 mdl file.

And no, I'm not adding any effect to this model.

Regards.

Martin

PD: This is for FS9 like I said in the first post.

Hello Martín, don't know what could happen, I made myshelf a platform, and on ships even, and I haven't problem by now, I have fsx. try changing the height of the platform. saludos.

Thanks Bernardo for your tip.

No luck with that.

I tried to set the object in FS9 scenery with 0ft altitude (that means no change in elevation or scale). Crash.

I tried to change a little bit the height in the Sketchup model and then implement one more time an auto platform with MCX. Crash.

Well, I need to keep working and testing this model.

Thanks one more time for your time gents.

Regards.

Martin

I forgot to say you don't use "autoplatform", try make this with your own inputs.with add...platfom and crossfinger. could be a bug in the program but I don heard of someone had problems with platforms, good luck.
As last solution change in the exporter options the "nocrash" option" to true. could do the trick

Hi,

How many polygons does that top surface has? Depending on how it is modelled you might have multiple. For a platform you only want a simple square, so in that case making it without the auto platform function might work better.

Hi Arno:

It's a simple box and the yellow platform is on the top of this box.

I will try without auto platform and see if work better.

Thank you guys one more time.

Martin

Yes Bernardo, that was the way to make it work. Manual settings to add the platform to the model.

Now it's working perfect. Take a look:

Many thanks to all of you guys (Arno, GaryGB, Bernardo).

I have a lot of platforms to do now :D

Best regards.

Martin

Well, now a new issue :(

The platforms works for me but not for some of the friend which I'm sharing this stuff. FS9 crash when they land on it.

I will keep researching info about this.

Regards.
