• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSDS, Reverse compiling .BGL to .FSC project file

Help, anyone... :o

I am fairly new to FS scenery and airport design and have been directed here for assistance. Abacus mentioned that there is a programmer that hosts the FS Developer site.

I have been designing scenery & buildings for use in FS9 using Abacus FSDS.

I had developed a number of fairly complex scenery buildings. However, I recently lost my saved projects (.fsc files) after my Hard disk failed. I had most backed up but lost some of the more recent creations. I have a copy of the compiled .bgl files which still function within the FS9 scenery, but I still wish to modify the missing projects.
My question.... is it possible with some utility or other to reverse the .bgl files so as to recreate my missing FSDS .fsc project files. Abacus also mentioned something about ModelConveterX, although I am not using FSX but FS9.

Anyways, I hope someone here can assist me.

Looking forward to any replies :)

I don't think there is anything like that available

Hi,

Thanks for reply.

Thats a real pity, but then thats life. Another question that you can probably answer for me. How about if I want to place some of my downloaded vintage prop aircraft as static models. Is this possible at all and if so, what is the best method....can I use FSDS for this.

Thanks again

Darren. :)

Without original Data,

try it with a flightplan to make them Static..

The Flightplan: 1Leg at sunday morning at 4 O´Clock AM.
The other days the airplane sit on the Airport.

Bye the way:

We hope now that everybody make Backups for now and the future.
On stick, and HD, and DVD and/or Onlinestorage.

I assume that your vintage prop aircraft are pre-FS-X models?

What version of FSDS were they made with?

I believe that there is a way to convert an aircraft MDL (pre-FSX) to static BGL, but that's beyond my abilities.

Point me to one of the downloads you need converted.

Hi,

At the moment my ModelConverterX tool can not yet help you. I have an (almost) working FSC file importer, but the exporter that would allow you to load a decompiled BGL and save it as FSC is still on the wishlist.
