• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX SDK Manuals

Hello,

I am very late to switch from FS9-design to FSX.
Actually I have installed FSX+SP1+SP2 and SDK-SP2.

What strikes me is, that in comparison to the FS9-SDKs the SDKs for FSX do not contain any manuals or text descriptions how to use the different kits (except the Mission Creation Tutorials).

Have I missed something, when downloading the SDKs?

thanks

Helli

Hi,

You must have missed something. In the root of the SDK folder is a big CHM document that contains a lot more information than any of the old SDK did :).

Hello,

thanks for your quick responses.

@ Tim: Indeed, your link provides a whealth of information. Many thanks for that.

@ Arno:: as always - nice to hear from you!
When you say "in the root of the SDK folder" I am not sure what you mean.
All I have, after installing the SDK-SP2 (no Acceleration),are the 4 "Kits", nothing else.

I suspect, that I disobeyed my own "cooking recipes", which I established for our German collegues after the fruitful discussion here in this forum, namelyt that I did not install the original SDK, but only the SDK-SP2.

Do not bother any further with this problem of mine. Only if I fail completely, I shall raise my cry for help again.

Thank you very much.

Helli

Hello to all my good friends,

after all your inputs I owe you an explanation, where I "stumbled".

Disobeying the councel of the MS godfathers I installed the SDKs in a separate "FSX-Design"-folder, far away from the suggested FSX-default-directory.

I achieved my basic objective, but I inherited a bag full of problems. I did not read the "SDK-Installation-Wiki" far enough to realize, that this consequence is discribed there.
Maybe it should be paintet in red also.

Anyway, thanks for your kind inputs and hints - and your patience.

yours truely

Helli
