• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Any one have the Mission Briefing Template from fsxmission.com? Their link is dead. :(

Nevermind. I found a new link on another forum.

Did you use the broken-link-button? There is a forum right on their page where you'll surely find somebody to help. ;)

The site has become a bit inactive lately, but maybe I'm wrong with that.

Anyway, there's not too much in that file you don't have without it. Simply use the default mission HTMLs as templates. ;)

I'm surprised the mission related traffic isn't higher since the release of Jim's mission editor. I haven't had a chance to play with it myself yet, but I hear good things about it from some folks on the team who have.

Hi,

Probably a little soon yet, people have a new tool to get to grips with as well as possibly the mission system too.

I'd have expected some cross-country missions to pop up fairly soon though, they can be created in a few minutes from a flightplan.

Take some time to play with it and upload something yourself :D

Cheers,
Jim

Regardless of whether missions are appearing or not, your tool is a major improvement over the FSX SDK. I've been playing with it a bit, and it is much more intuitive. Thanks for all of the hard work.

Hi Jim....

Bought your program, made my first mission, added some music and .bgls and it worked fine---Its in Avsim and am already getting feedback....
I read your manual up and down...I read that "it will not teach how to make a mission" and it sure does not!!!.....Bad idea. ----Why not add a little chapter on how to make a simple one, not using the Wizard.I think it would help a lot---The program is "not" too intuitive as someone mentioned unless you have some experience with the SDK....anyway it is a step forward and will continue to pick on it to get the most of it, but it sure is not "easy"....:(/ ....If you write it, I´ll translate it for you into Spanish....How´s that?

Hi,

You mean to create a demo mission from scratch, like a 'cookbook'? I've never been fond of those. Take a look at the Wiki page here for mission creation - is that what you were thinking of?

I was hoping that people would use the Wizard, see how things were put together and then use that as a base for experiments. If you let me know the kind of content you would find useful I'll try and put something together.

Cheers,
Jim

What more do you like than a nice tool like Jim's, some very good Wiki stuff and a lot of sample XMLs for the default missions in the SDK? I'd say mission development is one of the most easiest things to learn in FSX. Much easier than aircraft design or all that scenery stuff. ;)

Hi Jim....... I did use the Wizard to make my first Mission...Littoria.zip at Avsim.
But apparently the program is not working right since when I try to "add" a trigger or anything else there is "no way to find how to start it"....Oh well, I am probalby not making to much sence since everything in this Mission business is to "new" for me....I will have to read some more and sure will delve in the Wiki.....I think I have to re-install the program since something is not clicking...
Thank you.

Hi,

I wouldn't expect that reinstalling would change anything. If you're getting an error message, try posting a screenshot or the exact text.

From what you said though, it just looks like you're not getting triggers to fire when you expect. Triggers all have an 'Activated' property; when this is false, the trigger does nothing. When it's true, the trigger is ready to fire. You can change this using an ObjectActivationAction.

Each trigger must have at least one action because otherwise it's pointless.

If you can post the exact text of any errors you get, or a screenshot, I should be able to help you get past the problem.

Cheers,
Jim

Jim,

I like your program, went out and bought the full version. I like using the template, just now starting to figure out to how to add in triggers during the flight.

One question I have, or suggestion, is to allow for (or provide) some additional templates. We can generate a tutorial mission from a point to point, and we can generate a tutorial mission from a flight plan file. Both of these require an aircraft being on the ground to start -- would like to to develop a template feature that allows the aircraft to start elsewhere, but then carry on through the flight plan or the mission. Examples, launching from an AI carrier (just a function of being at a very specific location and a specific instant in time), or putting a seaplane somewhere out away from a see plan dock.

I guess this could be accomplished by using recipes, but then your great template wizard tool isn't of much use, and that is such a great thing to have to create a good 'starting block' to work on.

Let me ask this another way. If I set up a mission based on a flight plan, can I then remove the starting airport from the mission and have the player start at waypoint 1? For some reason my mission is not showing up in my FSX mission list when I try to do this.

Ripcord
