• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Gate size and FSLTL

I set the heavy gate sizes as per real-life airport specs for my airport and reduced them from 30 m to 24 m, and I noticed that at some gates FSLTL seems to have stopped displaying extra large planes like the 777. I see this comment on their site:

Aircraft Limitations:
  • Airports having incorrect gate sizes set (Al aircraft cannot use gates where the wingspan is set smaller than that of the aircraft).
The wingspan of a 777 is 64.8 m so either of these values should be too small. Does the gate size actually matter, and if so, what should I set it to if the real-life values don't result in real-life planes appearing at the gates?

Double check the type of parking as changing the radius automatically changes the Type(size). For example, if you choose heavy, but then lower the radius, it will convert it automatically to a medium.

You're right, I noticed this after reloading my project. It's kind of sneaky, for a Heavy gate when you set the size to e.g. 24 it changes it to Type Medium, but it lets you set Type again to Heavy and stays Heavy. But if you reload the project, all the gate Types get reset again to the one that matches the size (e.g. Heavy must be 27 m or more, Medium 19 m or more). This does not affect ramps by the way, only gates. Apparently the real life size/Type combination cannot be set for my airport, where I was told Heavy is 24 m and Medium is 16 m.
