• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

GE and edit a polygon

Just a question.

Sorry this is not reallly a FSXKML question but hope someone can answer. I can figure out how to edit a polygon that has already been saved. Once you complete it, if you want to edit it I can't select it. Is there a way to select and edit. I can undo the points as I am creating the polygon. But once I complete it - that's it.

okay sorry two questions. Can someone explain GE folders. I don't see directories/folders. How is the concept of parent and child folders done.

Hi,

Last question first: the folders are in the “sidebar” (to see it/hide it press ctrl+alt+B or use the menu -> view -> sidebar) under “places” (to see “places” if hidden click on the arrow next to the name).

When in the “places” right click on “my places” and then “add”, choose new folder, name it, press “ok”. Create subfolders by right clicking on the new folder.

You may want to check out the “user guide”: In the menu choose help -> user guide.

When you have created a line or a polygon it can be edited by right clicking on it in the sidebar. Then click on “properties” which will open the properties dialogue. When this is opened you may change the properties and you can move the points or deleting them like this: Move the mouse over a point. The square changes into a hand and you can then click-and-drag or delete (by right clicking or using the “delete” button on the keyboard). You may add a point by left clicking on the line/polygon edge where you want the new point.

The points may sometimes be tricky, however, and all in all the editing functions are very limited. So if you are doing many and/or complicated shapes (lines or polys) move to another application. Some of the GIS programs (most of which are not free) or use the new version of Sbuilder.

The above covers GE Plus. I am not sure if the free, non-plus version is exactly the same.

Peter,

Thanks you very much excellent explanation. I found it - I had closed off everthing not realizing that the sidebar was an important item to keep open. :banghead:

I have version 4.02 Jan 2007 GE. It was the free version with all the new features.

thanks again
