• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

GMAX ground poly FS2002 seasonal + night textures

I have the usual GMAX FS2002 style poly developed and I have activated the seasonal textures. Works nicely.

Then I added night textures and these did not show up with the seasonal textures (i.e. no night textures in winter, etc.). I am going to now go and add the night coding in.

Having 49 textures for the entire PR ground means much manual hand coding to achieve the seasonal and night textures and night textures of seasonal textures ().

Is there a better way? Could it be done with mdl tweaker?

As my night textures for seasonal and normal are the same is there a possibility of just assigning the normal night textures to the _WI textures instead of having _WI_LM textures installed?

Thanks

Shez

The two asm files are attached.

Hi,

Making sure that the order is day, night, day, night, day, night, etc in the texture list is the only way.

MDL Tweaker only works for FS2004 style MDL files. But would it not work if you select the option in MakeMDL when exporting that there are nightmaps? I think that should automatically add them.

Arno,

Thanks.

So I think what you mean is we use the MDLtweaker to process the MDL and then use the asm file to run it through the previous process?

Hi,

No. I mean that when you export with the FS2002 makemdl you select the option for night textures and then do the usual tweaking.

I did get the night textures but I actually meant where you have seasonal textures being assigned night textures. How would that happen?

Thanks

Ah, sorry. I was not completely awake I guess. I forgot about the seasons. I think the only option you have is to manually tweak the asm file.

I am not aware of tools that can help you with this.
