• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi,

Like to enhance an area with elevation data from GE and have here a KML-file that shows the satelite view.
How do I proceed to get things right ? This is for FSX but can it be used also for FS9 (perhaps with other tools ?). Can somebody point me to a step-by-step tutorial ? Hope such file is sharp enough to give a fine detailed scenery.
Hope it's not too complicated. :o
Otherwise I have to think to work together with someone who is willing to to this job for me while I provide the rest of the objects to place (simple scenery).

You must decide whether you want to use FSX autogen scenery, which FSX_KML is ideal, or do you want to use aerial photographs- Autogen Annotator can be used for this.

For FSX_KML, read the manual in the Wiki section.
 
Hi,

It's not so clear if it is possible with FSX KML to bring elevation data into a scenery (mountains).

I found further that there is a tool named "FSDEM" (AVSIM) that will work in FS9. What about that ?

I like to make the scenery available for both FS9 and FSX with two files if neccessary of course.

Hi,

What kind of elevation data you have? When you want to process it with resample it needs to be a fixed grid. I am not aware that Google Earth can provide that kind of data for you.

I don't know enough about FSX KML to say what you can do with that tool though :).
 
Hi Arno,

I think this Google KLM-file only shows a top down view of the area in question and has nothing to do with DEM data. :(
It's better I start a new topic with a clear question.
