• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I started with Ground 2K4. I tried to follow a tutorial to place grond poly underlays, but every time I try to fill in the lon coordinates I get an error (501) :banghead: I did exactly wath the the tutorial told me to do. Help please!

Cees

Humm, I guess there are not that many Ground2k4 users around here (I don't use it myself either). Have you tried to enter the coordinates in a different format?

I use G24 now and then, but I don't know how to help with this question. I don't see a specific question, I'm not sure what tutorial the user is following, or what style of lon he entered.

It seems to be as simple as trying other styles of lon entry, as the proggy does work, be assured of that.

I'll keep on trying, but everything I try is refused by the program. I use the 'Ground2k4 airport underlay tutorial' by Birdman from ukscenerydesign.co.uk. The format for the lat/ lon I use is N52:33:45.57

It's only to show the format in numbers! Thank you so much for constructive thinking with me!

Last time I used G2k4 the only way I got it to recognise an area was by using the decimal version which I got from Tcalc2004, don't know whether that helps

This thread makes very little sense to me. Odd in the first place for someone to expect help without providing any detail. Then you provide detail with an error, and finally you lable my attempt to help you as "constructive" intending sarcasm.

Ok...for the record....I am offended. Good luck finding help when you mistreat those who try.

I'll give it a try, thank you!

Cees, you have introduced yourself now. Thanks.

I enjoy helping folks at this forum, thats the only reason I tried with you. Normally I ignore questions that don't provide evidence of the problem in the problem statement.

Do you think confusing latitude with longitude has never happened within this community? LOL Get a grip....it happens. When seeing you do that, don't you think logical HELP is to point it out. How do you expect helpers to help you when you include non-longitude information in your example about longitude? Getting help requires at least a minimum effort on your part. Don't you think that includes being accurate in the evidence you provide those trying to help you?

Longitude and latitude format is also well described in the users manual for this proggy, so it makes more sense if a user has problems that it was something like confusing lat with long. Why else would a user be having problems?

For some reason you've chosen to be negative toward me. Its unexpected, undeserved, and unwelcome.

Easy guys... easy...

Cees, please try to explain your issue in a more clear an concise way. Provide as much detail as possible and you are more likely to get a clear answer.

Please remember this is a friendly place guys... lets keep it that way. :)

AirMonkey, I'm Not sure why you think

<<Ground2k4 only handels decimal format, eks lat: 26,085083 long: -80,163050.>>

It works just fine for me entering coordinates like N40:00:00.0000; W123:22:33.3333

See the image attached.

That was news for me, thank you. But for Cees problem, he is clearly inserting the longitude and latitude in the wrong format.

Yes, I think we must wait for more information from Cees, without that we are only guessing.

So what is the error message (only error 501 does not tell us much) and what input was given when the error occured?

A test shows that you get an 501 error, when you use "." instead of "," character for the decimal sign.
At least for me with a german keyboard.

Thanks for all the reactions untill now guys. Really appreciate it. I will try the suggestions as soon as I get the chance to do so. If I don't succeed I will get back with a more detailed description.
