• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi there,
I am making Silver Falcons AI traffic, it is 4 Astra PC7MkII's that fly together. So What I did is gave them the same flightplans. But now they "collide" when flying. They taxi and take off perfectly, waiting for each other to fly. Now what can I do to resolve the colliding issue? I wanted to set their flight times a few second apart, but my FP editor only work in minutes, and it is too far apart then. Is there any other way to make them fly loose formation?

Thanks,

Jakes

Oh it is for FS2004

Try turning down realism settings. I don't think the planes will all land OK. Even if they all take off one after the other, they probably won't fly in formation. However, if you go to the destination airport, they will be all bunched together and the first one to get permission to land will do so. The others will go around and possibly disappear until the next departure. I don't think there is a way to do what you want using a flight plan program.
Maybe the guys that write missions have some ideas.

Thank you Sir!

Actually, I never checked that everyone land as promised, but will have a look.

Is there a way one can make the departure accurate up to a seconds?

Not that I know of. Even if you could, each plane has to go through pre-flight contact with the tower that ATC does one plane at a time. That takes time. Arrival and departure times are not exact, anyway. Some airports have multiple tower frequencies, but I don't think we have any control over them to make ATC use more than one at a time.

No - FS ignores the seconds in flight plans. The start-up sequence begins in the minute after the time in the FP. First all aircraft scheduled for takeoff in the previous minute are sequenced to begin the pre-flight process then it starts.

Sometimes I've seen aircraft with seconds like :15 sequenced ahead of aircraft with seconds like :45 in a startup, but other times I've seen it the other way.

Hi,

For what it is worth, I managed to get some six airplanes and heli's flying more or less in formation by:
- making overlay airports at both ends (departure and destination airports);
- sequencing flightplans in such a way that the different aircraft fly at different altitudes (100ft difference) and making sure that the taxiway paths to the runway start positions are more or less equal in length;
- differentiate arrival patterns by making VFR flightplans and changing the overlay runway pattern properties (left/right and height).
Result is a rather loose formation when viewing the AI craft mid way and a close formation upon start and approach, without aircraft overlapping.

I always use IFR for AI (most things seem to work better). Does VFR open up landing possibilites at your overlay airports? Come to think of it, I've never done any overlay work, either. Too much for my simple brain.
