• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Heliport or Parking at different altitude than airport. ADE 1.79 and FSX

I'm trying to place a helipad that can be selected from the airports "parking" list on a hill near the airport that is at a different local altitude.
Is this possible.
I don't see any variables in the compile options.
Thank you.

Airports must be flat in FSX. The only way to create an FS helipad at a different elevation is to create a separate airport at the new altitude. Since this doesn’t probably involve AI aircraft, you could just create something visual, not part of ADE. Something like a ground polygon using MCX, etc.

Thanks Tom. I'm currently placing all the 340+ New Jersey heliports into FSX, and was hoping to be able to get to each via selecting each airport. Plus, obviously, I was hoping not to have to make that many bgl's.

Tom, I already have two counties complete, with 56 helipads, compiled into a single bgl. Would making an airport for each of the locations (with propter lat/long and alt) and no other information work if added in addition to the bgl with the scenery?

I don’t know if FSX accepts an “airport” with only a helipad in it. You can always try it?

I created an airport for one of the helipad locations, with nothing other than the Name, Lat/Long, and altitude. It worked in conjunction with the whole county scenery objects. Now I can select that location by name or code.
