• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I would like to say hello to everyone here.
A little bit about myself before I start. My nami is Alfredo, but my friends call me Fredo. I am elisted in the US Navy, and have been an aviation enthusiast since2002. Now, I am starting to get into scenery designs. My first set of projects will be military bases. Pretty much the ones were I have been stationed on.
Right now, I am in work on KNRB(Naval Station Mayport, FL.) I have the latest AFCAD program and after about a week, I finally have the hang of it. I recreated the base, by deleting the default KNRB that FS9 had, and built my own. Unfortuatlly, it didn't come out that great. So, I will be posting images on what I have so far, later on.

But, once I have the airport finnished, I will want to build the buildings and the rest of the base surrounding it. This is were I draw a blank. My ultamite goal will be the refurbishment of NAS North Island, Ca.(KNZY).

My question, is this:
1) What programs will I need in order to build, or install objects into the airfield.
2) Are there any libraries that I will need in order to help out with my design
3) What is GMax and will this be needed.
4) Is it hard to install cars to drive around on roads?

I already have the RWY12 program, and one more, but I forgot what it was called. The reason behind me going to designing now, is because I couldn't find any military bases. I was looking for KNRB and KNZY.
So this is my hello, and what I plan on doing. I hope to hear more from you all as I have many things to learn.
-Fredo

Hi Fredo,

1) What programs will I need in order to build, or install objects into the airfield.

It depends a bit on what you want. If you want to design your own objects you will need a tool that can do so. GMax and FSDS are the most used tools for that kind of work. On the other hand if you just want to place already made object (made by somebody else for example), you could also use placement tools like Rwy12 or EZ-Scenery.

2) Are there any libraries that I will need in order to help out with my design

There are quite a few object libraries available, so if they contain the kind of objects you are looking for, they might make your design job a bit easier.

4) Is it hard to install cars to drive around on roads?

Which version of FS are you working for, Fs9 I guess? In that case it is quite hard, but in FsX it is a feature.
