MSFS Help flattening terrain

HI all,

New member here and totally new to modifications in any flight sim. I've used the excellent tutorial to get started. I'm flying around in Greenland and I've noticed quite a few issues with some of the terrain. For instance at the airport BGSS you'll see some very tall hills just next to the runway. I've followed the tutorial as far as being able to draw a rectangle around the hill and changing the falloff diameter but I'm now stuck and don't know how to effectively flatten this part of the terrain.

Can someone put me in the right direction?

Thanks a lot and have a great day!

I'm going to need some more hand holding I'm afraid. I've got the polygon tool selected but I don't know how to use it :). I've tried with the rectangle and I'm getting the hang of how to use this tool but it's not working for this particular scenery. In the attached screenshot I forgot to enable Terraforming but that didn't help.

To place down a polygon, you first need to select it from the Objects menu, than click add. Once you've done this, a red dot will appear over your mouse cursor when you move it around on the scenery. To place down a polygon potin (vertex), hold down CTRL and press the left mouse button once. To place down more vertexes, just move the cursor to a different place and hold CTRL and click the left mouse button. When you have placed down a few points, you'll see a red border appear, connecting the vertexes you have placed down. To finish the polygon, you have to holdt CTRL and dobble click the left mouse button. This will place the last vertex, and the polygon is placed down.

To use the polygon as a flatten polygon, select it from the Scenery Editor to open up its Properties panel. There, you check the Terraforming box. Now you can move the polygon up and down and all around, and the terrain will follow. To raise the terrain move the polyogn up, to lower the terrain move the polygon down.

Hope this helps :D

Okay so I managed to change some terrain, make a package and the changes are in the sim. Yay!

Now if I want to change more terrain in the same project, make the changes and press "Save Scenery", as soon as I close the Scenery Editor my new changes are gone. There's no "Build Package" anymore so how do I update the existing package?

In the scenery editor, you need to click on the Project name, not the BGL name. Once you click on the project name and go back to inspector, you should see the Build button
