• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

High-res taxiways

Hello everybody,

I am currently running FSX on a single core athlon 3800+ with a Gforce 6600 graphics card, with most of the sliders turned all the way up, and since the SP have been quite pleased with my performance and certainly with its general appearance. When going through some of the screen shots however I noticed that on ground level the ground textures (taxiway and concrete that is) of most users look much more detailed then mine, even with all the sliders maxed. I was wondering if this is an issue related to my older graphics card, or is this something I can fix in my FSX.cfg file?

It depends on many things - whether the screenshots you have seen are using custom textures, whether those who made the screenshots are using scenery enhancements (Ground Environment, Real Environment Pro etc.) for the default scenery etc.

In my experience, many/most custom airfields - both freeware and payware - use custom taxiway and runway textures.

Thanks a lot for replying, actually that was the main reason for my question, I am working on a project right now, and I intend to do design the ground textures partly using the xml method, and partly the gmax fs2002 way. But I’ve started worrying that the resolution of both would not correspond since the textures seem to be displayed in a different way with other users. Even when I download textures in a higher resolution they are not displayed as in the screenshots. I will post a screenshot to clarify:

This is the way the concrete and asphalt ground textures are displayed on my computher, is this a normal resolution, or is my hardware lacking?
