• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hold Short Lines

Hi. Insert a painted line (default) across the taxiway. Select it and in the properties change the line type to Hold short forward or backward

That's the visual. For the actual hold short point you need to add a taxiway point in the taxipath and set its type for a hold short

is it true, hold sort reverse or forward does not matter if the traffic file is for ils?

Yes, for AI it must be a red (regular) node, not a yellow (ILS) node.

not my question. What I asked was..................................................... foe ai ils hold short node direction does not matter? AND for ai vfr traffic files it DOES matter?

The ILS hold short node is NOT used by AI Aircraft at all, AFAIK. Only the red regular one. In my sim they only use the regular hold short nodes, not the ILS hold short nodes. Are yours different?

Tom- My experience has been that if I had a hold short (red of course) accidentally reversed my AI would taxi right past it onto the rwy. This caused (I assume) that now my AI was sitting on the rwy waiting for ATC to tell it to advance to the rwy, and ATC is waiting for the AI to get to the hold short. There it sits and times out after 1.5 minutes. When I corrected my hold short then the AI behaved itself.
But now I understand this is for
VFR traffic only. ILS traffic files the AI doesn't give a rip which way the hold short is. Is this correct? Mostly, in the past, I have written traffic files as VFR, and the above was true. My question was....... traffic files written as ILS.... it doesn't matter?

I have never seen a reversed hold short node not work for any AI traffic, VFR or IFR. So as I say your experience is different from mine.

Perhaps I am wrong... maybe back in FS9 days. I do remember that occurring. My AI would taxi without stopping right out onto the rwy......... wait there for a a while then blink out. was fixed after I to care of the hold short. I also remember if there weren't any hold shot... that would really do it. Oh well things change.
