• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA How do I save changed stock airports, please?

Hi all,

well, I felt certain to be master of the situation but failed

While going on with my ground polygons successfully, I now wanted to delete the annoying default parts of my runway grass extensions:

Westside

Eastside

I had a look at scruffy ducks side here:

http://scruffyduck.screenstepslive....-how-do-i-remove-a-stock-airport-from-the-sim

...and I understand how to delete the parts I want to. But my question is:

How do I save this changed file AND delete the stock file at same time? Means, when I add the new file as bgl, the originally seems to still exist, right?

So, when I open the stock airport in ADE, I can change parts inside and save it, but it seems NOT TO BE the opened stock airport file that I save. This is strange to me and I hope anybody can help me.

Many thanks in advance
Manfred

You don't delete the stock file. The new addon scenery is placed above stock scenery at a higher layer number, and it uses exclusions to delete the stock scenery parts you don't want to see. In many cases ADE will generate the needed exclusions automatically.

In the screenshots it looks like you're not removing the stock airport background, which is not a part of the stock airport file but instead is part of the terrain vector scenery (CVX files).

This tutorial shows how to remove the stock airport background and add a new one:

Hi Barry,

thanks a lot for quick reply. Didn't get a match because of the different threat title. Interestingly, the marked grass has exactly the same edge line like the default set fence of the stock airport. Because of that, I supposed the culprit is a part of the stock airport. Will do some trials with your linked tutorial. Thank you very much!
