• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

When I updated the forum software a few weeks ago, I also installed a different download section. Now that we are using it for a few weeks, I would like to know how you like it this far. Is it easy to find the files you are looking for for example?

To organize the site a little bit clearer, I was thinking that it might be a good idea to move the objects from the "Object market" subforum into the download section as well (we could have an object section in there, with certain subsections for example).

But before I continue doing something like that, I would like to know how the users think about that. Does it sound like an improvement to you?

When we do that, I will also have to get the upload functionality of the download section working, so that new files can be added easier. But before I do that, I guess I have to evaluate the hosting package to make sure we have enough webspace and bandwidth :D.

Sounds interesting to me, although what would it entail? Would people host Macro's and objects for general use (like rwy12)? Sounds interesting, personally I'm not into making such "general" objects, but I'm sure others would appreciate it. I vote yes, but I must add that the tools are more important than objects (for me at least), so if the bandwidth cost increase is large, then I would stick to objects for now.

Arno, the download section is fine!
I found everything right on.

I can not say anything about the Object market because i am not allowed to download them...

Have a nice weekend

On the forum there is an subforum called "Objects market" already, here some people have shared objects they have made with other designers. So here the idea is mainly to move that to the download section as well, so that all files available for download can be found in one logical location. But before starting to do something like that, I first wanted to ask you all if the download section is easy enough to use from the normal user point of view :).

Most of the objects are of course general objects. Sharing an object that you made for one specific location does not really make sense in general.

The bandwidth usage is something I need to study a bit better. We don't want the same trouble as at the end of last month of course. And I agree with you that when the bandwidth is a problem, the tools are more important. But a nice collection of objects would also be very useful to scenery designers I think.

Do you mean that you have technical trouble downloading or that you can't use the objects because most of them are for freeware only?

Thanks again for your good work, Arno. :)

I'm having a lot of troubles with my PC the last weeks and I'm pretty busy with my new job, so I'm not up to date about FS any more. :(

But this seems to be a good idea. Would be very nice to see all the objects in the DL-section as well. ;)

I third it..... (if that's even possible :rotfl: )

But yeah, if you're just considering to move it from one place to another, then the its a good idea. The download section is easy enough to use, for me at least. But yeah, bandwith limitation is the only thing which needs to be scrutinized carefully.
