• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello

In the attempt to create my first scenery I have come across a problem

How do i blend my photoscenery in with the normal scenery?

I have heard something about alphachanneling it? would it work or is there a better way or program for doing such things?

I've never worked with photoreal tiles in FS9 but in FSX you can use shades of grey to define transparencies in your blend mask. The best method for a seamless blend is to define your blend mask using natural boundaries i.e. edges of fields, rivers, roads, etc. Then play around with the colours in your image for a while in Photoshop or GIMP and try to match the surrounding landclass tiles

With FS2004, what I do is to place the tiles as a VTPlayer. I can then trim the VTP poly in SBuilderFS9 to the center of roads or field edges. Then it doesn't look so abrupt.

Also, you may need to alter the coloring of the source image to more closely match the default landclass textures in the area.

You can edit your alpha channel with a photo editor software (like Photoshop)

In PS, you can open you alpha channel, the go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur with a value between 3.0 and 6.0 to make soft your alpha channel, apply the new alpha channel to your photoscenery and you can see the difference ;)

Hope this helps
