• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 How to edit mesh?

Hi at all, i'm here because I had a problem during creation of a scenery. A few times ago I started creation of a scenery, but due to mesh that hide the rwy (because terrain is higher than runway) i've stopped creation of scenery!
How can I solve this problem? Thanks! ;)

Hello:

It sounds like you need to create and place a "flatten" underneath your runway and/or under more of the surrounding airport background.

A flatten polygon set at the same elevation as the runway should prevent the underlying terrain mesh from popping up through the flat plane of texture which is used for displaying the runway.

For FS9, this flatten can be a SCASM Area16N or a FS9 SDK LWM type of BGL file.

A search here and on Google should help you find info on how to create such a flatten BGL at an assigned elevation (MSL).

Numerous freeware and a few payware utilities are available which can make a flatten for airports and other FS scenery areas.

Hope this helps ! :)

Ah yes, I'd forgotten to mention that one can define a rectangular flatten statement in the "active" Scenery.Cfg file entry for one's scenery "Area".

This does work via Flattex or direct manual editing of the "active" Scenery.Cfg file in FS9 (and even still works in FSX).

Glad you got things working the way you prefer ! :)
