• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

How to make dynamic ground scenery?

Hello all,

I'm helping out on the development for the FS2004 Rimini scenery (LIPR) that will be released pretty soon by Harry Urben.

We would like to make some moving ground traffic on the airport like a militairy patrol car driving around the airport (in a loop).

Can anyone tell me what program I need to use, or any other way to make driving traffic on airports or cities?

Hope someone can help me out!

Thanks,

Barry

Hey Barry,

Ive been looking for the same thing. There appears nothing out presently that can copy a recorded FS flight and integrate that into an FS Object, like say a Gmax car.

Back around FS2000 and FS2002, there was a Scasm program that could take FSDS objects and integrate that with a saved flight file (playback recording) and it would integrate it into a BGL dynamic scenery file. But Scasm I am told will not function in FSX now and FSDS3 cannot do what FSDS did (old world now).

Would be nice to get something like this going. You could make some very cool, precise ground traffic with it. You can even do a Helicopter that flies a loop over an airfield and returns.

It is a bit of wild technology and amazing it isnt present anymore with all the cool things they now have with FS...

Hi,

For Fs2004 this is a bit tricky indeed. The animation that can be made with GMax are limited to 1024 frames, which is about 55 seconds. So in general that would be too short. It is possible to tweak this to extend the animation, but that means quite a lot of hand coding to get it working.

I guess the old dynamic scenery could still work.

For FsX it is a lot easier of course, as it has vehicles driving around the airport as a default feature. I think it should be possible to add your own models as well, but I have not tested that yet.
