• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

How to make Runway Numbers

Hi guys only me again.

There are a couple instances where I can see the runway number.

These numbers are on grass strips and as such are very vague in both GE and FSX/Gen X.

However it would be a nice touch to include them where possible, but how on earth do you create a number in SU.

1-9 individually would be good but what about say 36 as one model??

Regards

Richard

In addition, there is already out there a library.bgl file that has runway numbers which can be placed using EZ Scenery or Instant Scenery programs, as well as ADE: Runway markings - released 02/16/2009 by Lance Tucker

Thanks Rick.

I am trying to make as much of my own stuff as possible as being in DDS format they take up so little space compared to BMP's.

Also I do find it very difficult to sort out what texture you require for say just one object, I normally end up installing them all and having upteen mb's of stuff that I do not want.

I do have the library that you suggest and many thanks for your kind contribution.

Regards

Richard

Hello:

Thanks for mentioning that additional resource !

That scenery library has not (yet ?) been re-uploaded to AVSIM after the "hack", but is at Flightsim.com:

"FSX Runway Numbers And Markings for scenery design work on airport files. Placable objects for use with Instant Scenery or similar tools. By Lance Tucker"

http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=131936

Thanks as well to Lance for sharing these with the FS Community ! ;)

PS: I see both Sid's and Lance's libraries were mentioned in this thread at FSDeveloper:

http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19600

Hope this helps ! :)
