• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

How to raise a landclass scenery 0.2m to avoid bleedthrough ?

Hi all,

I have redone a coast and also designed a harbour.
The water is designed around the harbour scenery ( cement landclass polygon ) , but when coming close to the harbour I get a bleedthrough from water through the harbour scenery.

Can I change the priority for the harbour scenery somewhere or can I raise the harbour 0.2m to fix this ?

Help is appriciated.

Hi,

Can you be a bit more specific? Landclass and terrain polygons (made with shp2vec) should never flicker. That is because the scenery engine combines all the information before drawing it, so there are not multiple polygons on top of each other.

So is this only terrain scenery or is other scenery, like 3D models or ground polygons made with GMax (or similar) involved?

There is no other scenery involved.

I first made the water polygon and with that the waterform of the coastline and harbour.

Then I made the landpart of the coastline and the harbour.
Where the waterpolygon stopped the landpolygons started.

It is only the harbourpolygon ( cement lc ) where I get bleeedthrough and the water appears when being close to it.

At another part I first made a landpolygon exclude , then I made the water and then a small cement landtongue into the sea.
The waterpolygon is around this landtongue, but when coming close I get a bleedthrough form the water, which wasn't suppost to be there at all.

I used polygons instead of tiles, because of the form.

Where I used beach polygons there is no bleedthrough.

A flattenswitch does not work.

Here 2 screenshots ; you can se that if I am further away the scenery corrects itself.

Even the coastline starts to behave weird.

What I did :
- made a polygon to exlude the land ( on the sea side )
- made a polygon which includes the sea
- made a polygon which includes the land
- made a polygon which includes the harbour ( cement )

The fold in the concrete is just the form of the polygon and the image of the texture.

I tried with a flatten for the hargbour part till up to 60 m high , but no difference I could see in FSX.
Near the airport at another part of the coast I could immediately see the difference.
Perhaps this only works near airports.

Making a flatten with FSX KML was no succes , as my values chanced to other numbers when I edited the height.
I read at the forum that more people have experienced that.

Then I did what I found in the tutorial :

Make the beach.
Exclude the existing shorelines.
Make a new shoreline.
Exclude the sea if it appears at places where there is land.
Made a flatten.

Still bleed-through.

Also I copied the harbour and tagged that with exclude sea, but still the issue.

However , several km's up north I also made a harbour and that parts has no bleed-through issues !?

I also remaked that at several places the default land bleeds-through in the sea !

I am really puzzeled here.
