• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I feel like such a goofball. I've had FSX since it first came out and since then have been so preoccupied with learning GMax and other scenery design related stuff that I just noticed (last night, in fact) that there is now an option in the View Menu to follow AI aircraft around. :o

I love that feature because sometimes I want to do something in FS but I don't really feel like concentrating on flying. So now, I can just watch planes without having to think.

So I have a question. Is there a way, when you pick a random AI plane from the menu, to know or find out where it's located (in air or on the ground)?

I realize if you have the Tail Number "turned on", and if you spot one in your vicinity, you know pretty much where it is but if you just pick one at random, is there any way to find out it's location (or destination)?

Thanks.
-Michael.

Ok, I'll answer my own question. :)

After prodding around I found that you can determine where the AI aircraft are headed.

Enable the Traffic Toolbox in DLL.xml and use the Traffic Explorer.

I really like that new feature. Wish I had noticed it a year ago. :D

Hi Michael,
One of my favorite pastimes. I like to design something in an airport then follow an AI plane until it lands at the airport I was working on. This is useful for taxiway signs and how things look from a distance without having to worry about guiding an a/c!
