• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

first im working in 3d max and then i will export it to gmax but now i have a couple of questions about smooth
should i make the whole fuselage then amooth it
or should i make one part then smooth it or finish the whole plane then smooth .
the part i did looks like this no1 picture however in after rendiring it looks like the secound picture.
so i dont know to increase the number of polygons but that will be bad for performace or just keep it like this but i think that this is also bad for my eye.
so can anyone help me.

'lo Wael,

Depends on what your preferences are I suppose. As far as I am concerned smoothing on your model looks pretty good already.

It is a good idea, however, to slap a texture on it, export as FSX mdl, and have a really close look at it in the sim, checking the evenness and run of the highlights and shadows etc. You'll hate any mistakes that you notice later, when it is too late to do something about it.

Can't recognize your a/c type or its dimensions but it seems you are using 18 sections to your cylinder. That is rather a low count, 32 is standard, and many people now are using 64 ...

Generally, you smooth per part until it loks right. Look here for a clever video tutorial by Kevin Miller aka "Gibbage":
