• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX ILS doesn't line up with the runway!

Hello
I recently started FSX Planner and tried to fix one of the airpots ILS. I did change the ILS heading and managed to compile the XML and add it to fsx but when I fly to that airport still no changes shown and the aircraft doen't line up correctly with runway in ILS/Autoland mode. Can anybody please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks

I think we would need to see the bgl file. Did you just move the ILS or did you add any code for an ILS approach?

Also if you compiled it did you put the resulting bgl file into an active scenery folder in FSX?

Hi
Actually I did put the bgl file in the active scenery folder and fsx has updated the scenery folder. Also as I was looking at the ILS in the airport the heading was off the runway so I changed it to the correct heading and compiled and placed in the scenery folder.
Thanks

That may be a good thing...

Be very careful to check reliable sources (such as official charts) before trying to "fix" what you think is wrong...

You do know that many localizers are offset in the real world, right?

What airport and what runway are you trying to "fix?"

Thanks for the reply.

The AIrport is located in Shiraz/Iran (OISS) it already had one ILS approach for RWY 29L. I tried to first add two more RWYs and fix the ILS line up the fsx even shows the changes I made after bgl update but still flying to that airport on Autoland/ILS mode doesn't get the right heading as it's basically off RWY.

OK this is what I am seeing.

There is one ILS at the airport coming from the Stock Airport. This is on 29L.

It matches the stock approach pretty well except for the initial holding pattern,

I see two ILS Approaches in your file. One for 29L that looks more or less complete and looks aligned with the runway and another for 29R that is not complete and does not create any draw.

Can you confirm that it is the ILS approach on 29L that is not working? or is it related to 29R?

EDIT

Your XML does not seem to contain the ILS. Loading the stock ILS on to it there is a very small difference between the runway heading and the ILS heading (about 0.5 deg) - is this the difference you are referring to? This difference is present in the stock airport. Since there is no ILS present in your XML you are still seeing the stock ILS heading.

Hi
Thanks for the reply. The issue is for the RWY 29L approach which as you say is different with the RWY heading by 0.5 deg but one question is remaining for me and that is when I add ILS to the RWY depending on the end where should I place the ILS beam since as I add for example ILS for RWY 29R the beam goes next to the RWY I want but the ILS drawing goes to the other side of the RWY?
Thanks

Generally the ILS (localizer) is placed at the opposite end of the runway on the center line and in line with the runway. The Glide Slope can be placed on either side but needs to be at the expected touch down point. A DME if present can be co-located with the Localizer or at some other location nearby.

Not sure if that answers your question

Thanks a lot sir! I think I've got my answer. I appreciate all your support.
