• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

is there a limit for copying objects with whisplacer?

Hi,
I put a SketchUp-model with whisplacer in my FSX-scenery. I need the model a second time and so I tried to copy and put it ca 5 km away in the scenery (the same bgl.file). It works, but the next time (restarting FSX) the copied object was vanished and I had problems to open the bgl.file with whisplacer. The same problem gave copying of a bit complexer object.
My question: is there a limit?
I solved the problem by creating a new bgl.file with the same object more in the near.
Thanks for information and good wishes for happy landings
Christian

Is there a limit? Not really in the number of objects* but the SDK documents mentions grouping objects by geographical region (so the sim only has to load objects for the area around the aircraft rather than loading a whole file of objects that my be far away)

*But of course there are performance considerations

Hi,

I am not aware of such limits. You can have objects at different locations in the same file.

Thank you for answering, but my question: why or where are my problems?
I tried to put a mountain cross from google-internet sketchUp on a mountain peak and than to another. It contains only a mdl.file without texture. Then I could not open again the bgl.file in whisplacer (cannot open file[java.io.EOFException]) or so. With a backupfile I could delete the copied mountain cross. And then I made a new bgl.file. By the way, I knew that more objects at different locations in the same file are possible. I only think the problem is to copy objects!?
greetings Christian
