• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Jumbled up textures

Hi Folks.

Some of my models place no bother from the library but others appear with missing wings and missing textures from engine nacelles or other parts of the a/c

I know that sometimes I get a message about missing textures from a/c when I am making a library, I thought that they would be minor parts that were not required. I did not think that whole wings would be left out.

This is in FS9 and the a/c is the project airbus with a repaint of an easyJet model

Perhaps it isthe repaint that is causing the problem, I will go make another library with an original pa airbus.

Meanwhile, any thoughts on this will be appreciated.

Cheers...Kenny

Kenny, parts with missing textures will be medium grey. If this is your problem, there is no alternative but to locate the missing texture and add it to the aircraft folder. (SAMM doesn't "know" whether or not a missing texture is important. If the model file refers to a texture and that texture is not in the aircraft folder, SAMM tells you.)

If the parts are missing from the rendered model, this is most likely due to the way the designer animated the model. In default mode, SAMM makes certain assumptions about the way the model is animated. If these assumptions are not true, parts will be missing or misplaced.

SAMM provides a set of tools to help you investigate and resolve such issues.

Hi Don.

Thanks for the info. I will check that out. I have also discovered that with the Project Airbus models it places the outer half of the wings about two feet above and inboard of the inner half of the wings. They are floating in the air in other words. Later today I will try a test with one of the default 737s.

So far all of my smaller GA a/c have placed no problem apart from the default Baron which comes out huge when I place it with ADE.

When I place it with SAMM it works no problem. That is a strange one.

I will post back when I try the 737, hopefully it will be fine. I am beginning to wonder if a re-install of SAMM might be the answer as I am sure that it is not working as it should.

Regards...Kenny

Hi Kenny,

Having some aircraft be stubborn is going to happen, as different aircraft designers, design differently. If you read through some of the threads in this forum you will see other cases like yours, and they are not related to the SAMM installation.

Are you selecting the "All Animations" function when you convert?
The All Animations seemed to fix quite a few issues where parts were out of place. Using the animations tools will likely help you with specific aircraft, but it will be up to you to learn to use them to investigate animations issues.

Since few users have experimented with the animation tools, a new thread discussing their use would perhaps start the ball rolling, so try to ask the questions carefully.

As for the size issue when you use ADE, that should be posted in the ADE forum.

Cheers

Hello again Gary.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. Yes, you are correct, as with any new software it will take a while for folks to become familiar with it. I had not thought of using the animation tool as I only wanted static aircraft to populate a field I am working on.

I only suggested a re-install because that has worked before for me with other software and it is sometimes mentioned on forums as a means of 'fixing' an anomoly within some software or other.

I will re read the animation part in the manual and post back if I get a result.

Cheers...Kenny

Hi Guys.

Thanks for helping out with this. I now have a fully fledged A319 on stand. This is one great programme and so easy to use once one understands what is happening in the background.

I now have another question about passing the scenery on to others but I will start a new thread for that.

Thanks again.
Regards...Kenny
