• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

KLAX Freeware Scenery - Help Wanted

[Story Time]
So i've been upset that there has been no good KLAX freeware scenery at all, considering that its one of the most famous and busiest airports in the US. So I've decided that I could create one, but creating decent scenery is hard for one man, so I've decided to venture here to create a team. And yes, I will contribute by modeling and carrying out the project.
[Fair Warning]
Since this is freeware, you will not earn more pay than the feeling of good to help the FSX community. However, I may put a donate button later on.

[Jobs]
Modelers: For modeling the buildings, we would like a couple of those
Artists: To create the textures for the airport, we also need a couple of those
Testers: People who point out glitches in texture and models

[Background Info]
Once we get a couple people in for the project, and we make a scenery good enough for a release, we will release the first version.

[Goals*]
-Better building models
-Better, more high definition building textures
-A more realistic taxiway and runway texture
*More goals will come (by team choice) after we have achieved them

You are asking people for a favor, do you realize that? You act like you being upset about something qualifies you to become the "boss" and influence project goals. Lets see...this guy wants me to donate my time so he can stop being upset, he wants to be the one to set the goals, and I should accept his stern warning not to expect any return for myself.....hmmmm pretty tough decision.

Just realized how bad my wording is in this thread
@Heretic: Yes I am contributing to this project by modeling
@bob5568: I want to help the fsx community with a better freeware KLAX, and the team will be able to contribute to the goals, but since I don't have a team yet, I have to set the goals, if no one else can. The warning is so people who expect pay knows they aren't getting any, after all, it is freeware.

In case you model, you don't need no one at beginning, just you and your dream. Just start doing it, there're tons of freeware sceneries with A+++ quality done from team of one

The only way to become good at anything is to do it, we were all horrible at texturing when we started out.

Yup, it was quite misleading.

Anyway, just start. If someone wants to pitch in, they will. If not, well...you've got time, don't you?

Not to be a spoil sport, but there is some excellent freeware photo real scenery for KLAX available at flightsim.com. The file name is klax_pr_V3.zip and it was developed by Glenn Johnson. I've used it for over a year and it is still current. Doesn't cut my frame rates very much compared to some other photo real scenery I've tried.

Best, Paul
