• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 KROC - Frederick Douglass - Greater Rochester International Airport

I started a new project for MSFS 2020 with a rendition of KROC

"Frederick Douglass - Greater Rochester International Airport (IATA: ROC, ICAO: KROC, FAA LID: ROC) is a public airport located within the City of Rochester, three miles (4.8 km) southwest of Downtown, in Monroe County, New York, United States." from Wikipedia.

I have finished most of the ground work and started modeling the buildings with the Terminal being the first and the most time consuming.

This is my first "large" airport

Of course everything is still work in progress this is just an annoucement.

But there are a few images of the WIP Terminal

Hello everyone,
It's been a while but I have been working on finishing this scenery over the past couple of weeks.

It's almost there although it still needs a few more adjustments. KROC is my biggest scenery project so far and I have been adjusting my workflow throughout.

I have an RTX 2080 and performance is great so far, I used the Blender LOD maker addon I made to great effect and it saved me a lot of time.

I cannot wait to get access to the MSFS 2024 SDK to improve the scenery even further.

Cheers,

Quick note now that I finally got a chance to fly out of the airport — I’m wondering if you can update it to enable ATC services. All of my comms and those of ai aircraft operating at the field are on Unicom. Can the control tower with full services be active?

Hello Sean,
Thanks for letting me know about that issue I'll investigate and fix it for the next update.

I almost never use the default ATC that's why I missed that small detail. It should be an easy fix.

Best Regards,

Hello Sean,
ATC frequencies patch (1.0.3) have been added (SimMarket). Looks like the default airport was missing them too, I hope they have fixed it in MSFS2024.

Cheers,

Thanks! I got my version from the marketplace so I guess it’ll be a couple weeks?

Hello,
Unfortunately it will be longer than SimMarket indeed. I uploaded it today so let's see how long it takes.

It only took 5 minutes on SimMarket.

Asobo needs to update their process because it usually takes me a week to update anything!

Devinci,

I am absolutely blown away! I live 4 miles from KROC and let me tell you all your custom buildings are spot on! I frequent this airport all the time. I never thought I would get a quality KROC, but you nailed it! Thank You!!!!!
If I had any suggestions it would be to improve the asphalt textures so they are not as repetitive and to have a way for the user to change the jetway signs to reflect the current airline gate assignments. It is very close to perfect!
Thanks You Again,
Kevin

Hello Kevin,

Thanks very much. Very good suggestions, I'll add that to the list for the next update!

Regards,

Devinci,

Also check the jetways for your nest update. The biggest planes that are at the main terminal is 737 series, A320 series and a Delta MD80. Some jetways do not reach or go through the aircraft. Bigger cargo aircraft do frequent the airport 767 a300 etc.

Just thought I'd let you know...No biggie!

Hello Kevin,

I am aware of that issue, unfortunately it'll require making a new custom jetway model with longer telescopic sections. I know the south cargo apron can accomodate a 767 but did not know that some heavies can also use the terminal.

Will add that to the list for the next minor update.

Thanks,

Hello Kevin,

I see, I did test all the gates with the A320 but I'll double check again. Maybe a 757 could also park there.

It would have been nice to have an image of the ground stop "T markings" as well.
