• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Lack of aircraft sounds in external view

To all,
Is there a practical / simple technique for adding sounds for external view .
The aircraft works great overall, and the engine, etc sounds when in the cockpit
function as expected.
Best to all,
Ken

What sim? Have you read the sound.cfg entry SDK documentation? All the answers lie in there... unless it's MSFS2020... then the documentation may or may not provide information that's helpful.

I'm not familiar with the SDK Docs but I will look a solution there. Thank you for the tip.

WarpD,
Reading the FSX Sound SDK Docs it seems that the "Viewpoint" parameter would apply. The Doc only refers to
values of "1" and "2" ; however in the sound.cfg file I see a value of "3" assigned to the Viewpoint parameter.
Viewpoint = 1 will assign a sound to inside the plane
Viewpoint = 2 will assign the sound to outside views (spot, tower, etc).
Would you happen to know what " Viewpoint - 3 " assigns to sound to ?
I believe this aircraft was a port over from FS2004 so perhaps that is a factor here.

I just read that if left blank or unassigned a sound will be heard in all camera views. So now I can try some stuff ~:)
Perhaps Viewpoint = 3 is the developer's way of saying "unassigned" ?
I have attached the sound.cfg file (as a .txt file) for your examination.
Best regards,
Ken

A 3 isn't recognized as valid so it would either be treated as unassigned (maybe) or the audio totally ignored (most likely).
