• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Land class failed BGL compile

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/land-class-failed-bgl-compile.441857/post-789095

I design a polygon.
I set the elevation.
I set the land class that I desire.
I highlight the polygon that I created.
SBuilderX needs to close down.

Hi Chris:

I'm still trying to discern what goes wrong in SBuilderX315 in your opening post linked above.

Please show us the {Vector Polys} tab of the "SBuilderX - Polygon Properties" dialog for the CVX Vector Polygon labeled: "161_Pts_LC_Mixed_Forest", so that we can see what Land Class Type # you assigned to that Vector Polygon object. :pushpin:

BTW: Do you have the Modified Terrain.Cfg file by Richard Ludowise (aka "rhumbaflappy") and Luis Feliz-Tirado installed in FSX ? :scratchch

Ok, I got the satellite imagery to show up. As the video shows I did not get an error, but I have no BGL file in the Tools folder. I took a snapshot of the quick window that popped up. The mystery continues.

IIUC, you used aerial imagery as a Background Map in the SBuilderX work-space.

Next, without compiling a BGL of the aerial imagery Map from the Background of the SBuilderX315 work-space, you (only) created a saved *.SBP project file in:

[SBuilderX315 install path]\Tools\Work\Test_1 sub-folder.

You then created a CVX Vector Polygon textured with LC_Medium City Urban_Grid_Dry, selected it, then compiled to a CVX Vector BGL with SDK SHP2VEC ...twice.

Note that in your screenshot the CMD mode text status messages generated by SHP2VEC stated: "Writing Vector Data to: Shapes\cvx_Test_1.

That means SDK SHP2VEC when assigned the task of compiling a CVX Vector BGL by SBuilderX, will by default write that BGL into:

[SBuilderX315 install path]\Shapes\ sub-folder

Thus, In your case, SDK SHP2VEC when assigned the task of compiling that particular CVX Vector BGL by SBuilderX315, wrote the Vector Data into cvx_Test_1.BGL ...located in:

[SBuilderX315 install path]\Shapes\ sub-folder.

AFAIK, you will find the CVX Vector Polygon textured with LC_Medium City Urban_Grid_Dry ...compiled to a cvx_Test_1.BGL in that latter folder above.

PS: You will not find a compiled BGL of the aerial imagery Map from the Background of the SBuilderX315 work-space, since you (only) created a saved *.SBP project file above. ;)

Gary, the first time I posted this I was using 314. I am now using 315. I have made some progress before you posted. I have made some vectors and I have found them in the "Tools/Shapes" folder. I placed that BGL in the Sceney folder for FSX. I threw in some buildings from SBX, Gen Objects and Lib Objects and compiled them as well. They all appear to be showing up in FSX.

Looks like you are making some good progress ! :)
