• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.

library objects show in fsx no longer in Prepar3D

hi,
i have been working on a custom ap for nearly 2 years on and off, i was preparing to share it to the world after a few more tests. for some reason some of the library objects (not standard) no longer show. one library object shows just a black roof. i have the bgl's and textures in specific folders, nothing was changed to ADEX or P3D. tried it out in FSX and has all objects no issues.
nothing was changed nothing was moved. i decided to reinstall P3d, no help. again i have been working on this for 2 yrs, suddenly one day while testing some objects no longer show and one with a black roof.
checked image complexity and is normal, checked to make sure all textures were there and they are, checked folders in right place and added in p3d still no luck. objects are in library manager. objects show in adex. project is opened for P3d, not FSX. tried adding the problem objects onto another ap, still no good.
works in fsx but dont know why now after 2 yrs suddenly its an issue.
not attaching the project since it has non standard library objects and the scenery folder alone is 91mb unless someone wants me to email the entire project which can be zipped to 99mb.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please could you explain further. This scenery works fine in FSX? It only does not work in P3D? Or did it used to work in P3D and stopped? Did you compile library models for P3d or FSX? Can you say what version P3D you use?
 
it used to work in P3D and stopped. dont know why nothing was changed or moved. it continues to work in FSX.
p3d version 3.3.5.17625, it stopped working in previous version this is a new install.
i dont understand what you mean by compile library models. i compile the a/p and move that BGL into my custom a/p folder which includes a scenery folder for all library objects (bgl files)
in my custom a/p as well as a texture folder for all the textures for all the library bgl's in my custom a/p. as i said nothing was changed nothing was moved nothing was duplicated.
the only think that was duplicated was the updated a/p bgl, the updated one replaced the older version with the older version deleted.

It appears that the textures were not added when the old "a/p" was deleted. I understand you work with ADE to create airports. It seems like you have a strong grasp of what to do in ADE, in order to accomplish your goals. It also seems like a better grasp of background processes would help you - and me - understand your situation. ADE combines many elements to emulate a functioning airport. There are ground polygons, effects for lights, library models like baggage carts and even custom models like unique hangars. ADE effectively "assembles" these components into a harmonious scene.
The objects you appear to be having trouble with are custom models. It appears that you make them in Sketchup, however it could also be Blender or one of the other 3d programs. One solution for your dilemma is that the textures for this hangar model were sucessfully transferred to your FSX updated "a/p," but not to the P3D version. The black surfaces are typical of a P3D model without textures.
It might be helpful to examine your custom model. I no longer run FSX, but it can be examined in MCX and perhaps someone else might test it in FSX for you, should that prove useful. Another thing to examine would be your file structure for both sceneries, what sort of textures you have in the texture folder that pertain to that specific model.
 
these are not my models but ones i got from other airports and scenery files. i used MCX in order to get the seperate bgl and texture files to have in a dedicated folder.
i swapped the folders from FSX and P3D, even thought each folder has the exact same files/bgl/textures.
this seems to be a P3D issue not ADE as FSX reads the bgl and textures files but for some reason P3D is not reading all of them.
thanks for the help, whats missing is the open hangars, anyone know where i can find some open hangars bgl with textures?
