• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Lining up FSX Virtual Cockpits & Aircraft?

Hi everyone - new to the forums!

I really want to get into modelling aircraft and things for FSX so I thought I'd gain a better understanding by starting off small and working my way up. So - I decided to take a POSKY 737, without a VC, get an FSX version of the model and incorporate the stock VC from 737_800 into it.

Firstly, I'm amazed I got it to work at all, but now I'm stuck with the VC physically too low towards the ground. Does this mean the origin of the original VC needs to be changed? Or does it mean something else? I thought if I can't get past this tiny hurdle trying to learn modelling, and how FSX deals with models, what chance do I have building something from scratch!!?

Hopefully someone can answer this (I'm guessing pretty simple :o) question?

Thanks :)

Hey TS,

You will need to start moving your VC around until it matches the Exterior location of the aircraft. Perhaps save a flight where you are parked next to a similar airliner, and parked even with it so that when you look out the side window, you see the side window matching your side exactly at 90 degrees. Then you should be able to match the distance forward, same with vertical measurement. Another words, move the VC a bit in Max/Gmax/FSDS, burn a MDL file, install, boot up FSX, check location of eyepoint. Continue until your view points match exterior to interior.

Good luck on your first go into FSX. If you have questions, just ask. Make sure you have the newest Parts XML build sheet for all the newer switches for VC's.

Bill, he can't do that! He's using the default 737 VC and an already compiled Posky 737 model...

You will not get the two models to "match" because their modeling "centerpoints" (0,0,0) don't match!

Thanks everyone - that does make a lot of sense, and pretty much confirmed my fears. I'll just have to start somewhere else - I noticed the help section on this website is pretty "noob" friendly, so I'll start there.

Thanks again guys.

C-123K freeware package

Hi,

I downloaded the C-123K freeware package recently but there is a problem. The virtual cockpit is physically located in the middle of the plane meaning that when I think I am positioned even with another aircraft I am actually further forward than I thought. How can I move the virtual cockpit forward to where it needs to be. I moved the eyepoint to where it needs to be now but left the VC behind at the middle of the plane. Any help would be appreciated.
