• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Localizer not aligned

Hello:

This is a weird problem that happens in certain airports when you do the final approach on ILS the localizer sends you to one side of the runway, it is not aligned with the runway, in this case ILS 110.90 rwy25 GCTS at Tenerife. As you can see I did the approach manually, PAPI lights looks fine 2 whites 2 reds, but I had to correct the lateral position, the localizer pointed me to the side of the runway. On the first try (with APP engaged) I ended out of the runway. :scratchch
Is there any way to fix it with AFCAD ?, I tried before unsuccesfully.
Look the position of the localizer dot and compare with the current position to the runway. Also look at the CDI on the ND.

Hi Carl:
The problem is fairly simple, you're depending on the instruments instead of your eyes.
ILS systems are not placed in the centre of the runway you're landing on. If they were you would smash them on touchdown!
When you get to the same point you were in your screenshot, use visual instead of instrument landing.
There is nothing better than the "MK1" eyeball!

I would say, that it is not the default scenery and in that scenery you see, they positioned the runway slightly to the right. Unfortunately the ILS of the default scenery is lacking through ... I've seen this problem on some freeware sceneries ...

The problem Georg mentions, does happen when the addon scenery does still use the old ILS commands (not the new XML ones).

Jeff, just imagine what would be depending on your eyes on final approach to Heathrow :duck: :yikes:
Georg, yes it is an addon scenery, it is canary03.zip (Tony Agramont).
Arno, at least I know what´s happening. Is there any chance to modify the old ILS commands to correct the place of the runway or the ILS, I mean move the ILS to the right or the whole runway to the left ?, could I use the new XML format, move it and still use the improved scenery on this addon?

Carlos

Good news George, as you said it´s an addon so I looked up over the Internet again for the last version of canary03.zip and taataaann!! I found canary04.zip , so I deleted the old scenery from the Addon Scenery file on fs9, and downloaded and installed the one I found here:

http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/votr1003.htm

I already had the NOVA textures so just add it to the texture file.

Look at the picture.

Anyway the question is still on the air.
