• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Longitude and Latitude triggers

I am trying to use a property trigger to trigger a dialog at a certain longitude. The conditions box says to enter the value in degrees, somewhere else it says to enter it in radians. Has anyone else used this variable? I need a value for 73 degrees west longitude. Thanks!

I'd suggest just to try it. ;)

I'd rather use a box (a thin but huge area) and a prox trigger. It's easier to use in the mission builder because you can visually see where the trigger is shot.

Thanks Horst...I finally got it to work. Should have thought to look at some of the samples in the Missions SDK sooner. They use that trigger a lot.

The variable is "greater than or equal" , since west is a negative number, and I'm flying west to east.

I am also using some proximity triggers, but the longitude and latitude triggers are real fast and easy once I figured it out. One thing I do like about the Proximity trigger is that you get two triggers in one. An action on entering the box and an action on exiting the box.

Can some kind soul point me to adding a lighthouse beacon to a Missions scenery object? I've found several from FS2004, but I'm worried that if I hand edit the XML to add it, it might be thrown out the next time I use Missions Object Placer.

Hello, I want to make the same as you, but one question. ¿ To set latitud trigger may I use "area rectangle" or there is another form?
( Sorry for my english)

The most easy thing in my opinion is too use a reactangle area, because you can see where it is and can move/rotate it wherever you want.
But you can also use a property trigger, which might be a good idea if you're not sure where exactly the user will fly, maybe 50miles north or south. Then you can trigger an action if he crosses, say, 25° long, no matter how far north or south he is.
