• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Maximum frames for animation?

Hey Guys,

sorry if this is somewhere mentioned, couldn't see it anywhere. Anyone have an idea of what would be the maximum frames limit for an anim in FSX/P3D?

Yes 1024 for FSX, I can't say for P3D. I would imagine 1.4 and 2.x are the same. Has anyone checked v3?

I think 1024 frames is the limitation of FS9. I don't know about the aircraft model but the scenery model in FSX, it is much more than that. In this tutorial, I have done 3048 frames.
I have modeled KLIA Express for Kuala Lumpur airport and KLIA2 at 4096 frames, without any problems. But I don't know if there is a limitation on that.

This I didn't know since I only model aircraft and I have never animated any thing past 1000 frames anyways. I eventually revised that single occurrence down to 300.

I think aircraft model is different. The doors, the landing gears, etc do not need long animation. I cannot imagine what needs that either.
But scenery needs long animation such as trains connecting between terminals, service vehicles, etc. I would say there is not limitation in the frames.

Animated aircrew need long animation sequences to avoid pilots looking like they've got the twitch, or Saturday night fever.

For 1024 frames, you will get roughly almost a minute of animation. I think it is more than enough for animated aircrew to do lots of thing smoothly.

One minute at approximately 17 frames per second. That should be suitable for most any animation application for pilot.
