• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.

    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.

Dear Flight Sim Developers,

I am very sure that this is one of the millions of projects announced here and i agree it's annoying whenever someone asks could you develop this and that airport like it is easy.I have tried to do it myself and due to time limit i have not come far yet. However the airport at Mogadishu, Somalia is a single long strip with just two Aprons and 1 terminal.


Also the airport is made al ready but i need it to be tranferred into FSX it's only available currently in FS2004. The file is named below and it's available at Flightsim.com.

FS2004 Scenery--Mogadishu/Petrella

Is anybody up for this job simply transferring from FS9 to FSX compatible scenery thanks.


The autogen surrounding the airport is extremely fake no high rise buildings are in Mogadishu and the structure of the city is well designed in this scenery below. Also i contacted the designer he is not there. My plan was to get the houses of this scenery and exchange it for the Unrealistic Autogen Area surrounding Mogadishu Airport.

Could anybody do this please i am begging you don't have to build any sceneries you just have to make them FSX compatible and replace the autogen fake city into the scenery of Black Hawk Down.


I am desperate as i am asking around for years and tried to build it myself without any luck:mad: So i decided to just transfer the FS2004 scenery and the city.

Thanks a lot Frits for considering !

I have contacted both designers and they didn't answer multiple mails. One of the e-mail address of the sceneries does not exist anymore. Respectively one was made in 2004 and 2007.

When are designers of free scenery going to start doing what I do (though I don't distribute much) that is putting in the info file "as long as you don't sell my stuff feel free to use and cannibalize it in anyway you want. I'm not vain and really don't care if you mention my name or not in your finish product. And if you want to sell it don't forget, I want my share of it."
 
Yes offcoarse if i would sell it the scenery i would contact the owners that is a must ! But since i am using it as free scenery it would be open to everyone and anyone this is my aim to let everybody experience this creation That is why Flight Simulator world is such a great world. :)

Lets all hope this scenery comes :D
 
Skippy here is the scenery in FSX,for it to work go to you FS9 folder and copy the texture folder in the root to the Mogadishu folder and delete the one that is there,now add the Mogadishu folder to FSX and go see!

Its call textures from FS9,and it is 220mg the FS9 texture folder,big but it works.

I will do the airport for FSX after the project that i am working on now.

Frits i checked the scenery and it worked perfectly thanks however the trees only were looking weird like a standing billboard with the tree in the middle of it surrounded by black colour. Isit possible to delete or erase the autogen such as standard buildings and trees that comes with FSX and replace it entirely by this scenery ? :confused:



I am very grateful that you are considering making this scenery after the completion of your own scenery. However isit possible to for instance change the location of the airport and i don't mean a very big change but a minor changes which could improve the already existing scenery.


  • Moving the airport a bit to the right so more to the sea. So that when you are approaching RWY05 you fly over the sea. (I do have the location)
  • Improve the scenery al ready exists by placing Busses and airport vehicles on the tarmac of the terminal. Giving a colour to the Termninal building which is white. Fence around the terminal front which was red. I do have foto's
  • for referrence.
  • ILS system cat III and sufficient night lightning
  • Features such as text on the terminal front stating Mogadishu international airport.

Frits, how does your scenery work with GEX Africa? Kinda curious as Africa in my sim needs some sprucing up.
