• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Move an apron behind another.

I have an airport that has concrete taxiways, with asphalt on the outside, like this image?
I was trying to replicate this by creating asphalt aprons, then putting concrete on top of them. But the asphalt seems to go on top of the concrete, is there a way I can move the asphalt apron behind the concrete apron? Or should I create these taxiways in a different way.
One more thing, is there an easy way to create an airport layout based in satellite imagery? Like is there an easy way to make them line up?

Thanks.

I have had some luck getting one apron to paint over the top of another apron by setting the "priority" of the top apron higher than that of the lower apron in the Raw Data View. I am not sure how taxiways interact with aprons. Still very new to scenery in MSFS2020. Haven't really played with this stuff since FS9.

Is this in the ADE display or sim or both?

OK. You can use background image(s) in ADE to help design airports

There was a hierarchy to apron surfaces in FSX, and it seems similar in MSFS. Asphalt will always show over concrete. Changing the priority in raw data sounds like a way to change it, but I haven't tried it. All stock airports in MSFS seem to use aprons for taxiways, and I haven't tried using the taxiway option in ADE to remake these taxiways. For FSX, a concrete taxiway could be placed over an asphalt apron.
