• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Multiple exclude polygons with SBuilder 310 ?

Hi,

I red a time ago that in the new SBuilder it would be very easy to make exclude polygons and select default items one by one to be excluded.
Is that true ? How can I do that ? Need of screenshot or do it in slew mode in FSX ?

Greetz. José.

Hi,

I usually just slew in FS and use the crosshair shown in SBuilder to draw the polygon. I find that easier for small polygons than setting up an image, etc.

Not sure what you mean with selecting items to be excludes. The type of the excludes determines what is excluded.

Selecting an airport item was a wish of a designer in this topic about the new SBuilder, hà.

I suppose also that I need to adapt the KML-area...
A lot of work to do.

Hi,

Tried to make an exclude polygon for FSX, but the default airport building doesn't disappear. Use SBuilder for FSX and set "Exclude all airport boundaries". Renames also the cvx_filename.bgl to cvx_000_filename.bgl... even 000_vvx_filename.bgl.
Must the polygon have the same measures ? Or larger ?
What do I wrong ?

Hi,

Found a topic, explaning that only an XML Exclude rectangle can be used for excluding buildings in FSX.

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<FSData
version = "9.0"
xmlns:xsi='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance'
xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="bglcomp.xsd" >
<ExclusionRectangle
latitudeMinimum = "N62 33.42"
latitudeMaximum = "N62 33.63"
longitudeMinimum = "E6 06.32"
longitudeMaximum = "E6 07.03"
excludeBeaconObjects = "TRUE"
excludeLibraryObjects = "TRUE"
excludeGenericBuildingObjects = "TRUE"
/>
</FSData>

Again the question: is a small rectangel enough within the building area ?

Hi,

Post here a screenshot of the default building in FSX to exclude.

1. Can I use coords of each corner of the green rectangle ?
2. Are the coords of each corner of the red rectangle enough ?
3. Or need I the data from the blue rectangle... what means that a lot of free space is excluded too.
4. Maybe I need several red rectangles to cover the hole default building ?

The altitude of the airport is 13 ft. I need it to convert in meters.
13 ft = 3.9623999738481603 m. Do I fill in 4 or 3.9 or 4M or 3.9M ?

The screenie show the airport at 360°. What are the right notation
for Lat min and Lat max and Lon min and Lon max ?

I wil use an xml-file compiled into 000_exclude.bgl, 001_exclude1.bgl and so on.

You see, a lot of questions. Very confused and like a straight and working solution.

In SbuilderX 310 Luis has implemented a very easy tool for object exclusions. Click the black X, just left of the green Compile button and the cursor will show "exc". Click, drag to the other end of the rectangle and release. Up will pop a setting box asking what is to be excluded. Click off what the object is to be excluded or just select All Objects and you're done. Just keep repeating for the objects you wish to remove. Then compile into a single file.

When drawing the area you want to be in SLEW mode in FSX and facing north. You get facing north by hitting Ctrl-Space. Taking the picture you posted as an example, it will have a point that places it within the sim. That point can be determined by working through the XML of the default file. I only mention that should you want to do a very precise "surgical" exclusion of an object. Most times that's not required, so in this case I would be drawing a rectangle as you've shown in Blue. More than likely the red box will also work.

You mention elevation, but an exclusion rectangle does not need elevation data to work.

Hi,

Fine... I will install SBuilder 310.
Thought I need also the sp1a update on my PC. Red somewhere that installing this update some files no longer will be there. Better make a restore point or backup before installing ?

Thanks. José.

-----------------------------Got some info grom Microsoft abot the sp1a update:

Description
The Windows XP Service Pack 1 (XP SP1) fixes a range of bugs in Windows XP. The file xpsp1_en_x86.exe, is a large download (133MB) and can be applied to any version of Windows XP Home or Professional (32 bit version only). To download the complete 133MB SP1 for all versions of Windows XP, click the download link at the top of this page.

Note: you do not need this download if you already have SP1 and would like to keep the JVM - see below.

So what is the difference between 1 and 1a?
The original release of Windows XP did not ship with Java Virtual Machine, but a copy of it is included in SP1. Now for the best bit: Microsoft updated XP SP1 to version SP1a (Feb 2003) and the only change they made was to remove the JVM again!

So, Windows XP SP1a does not include or install the Microsoft VM, which provides support for running Java programs. If you are running Windows XP or Windows XP SP1 with the Microsoft VM already installed, you can continue to update the Microsoft VM by using Windows Update. If you are running Windows XP without the Microsoft VM, you do not have to install updates to the Microsoft VM. Therefore, these updates are not offered to you when you visit Windows Update. Thanks to a court ruling, Microsoft is no longer able to provide a download of the Microsoft VM for computers that do not already have the Microsoft VM installed.

If you need the Java Virtual Machine, then click here.

So, is an update really needed ?

Hi,

It works fine now. Have to draw the exclude rectangle in contact with the border of the building... I think, because there is probanly no polygon at the bottom of the object. Right ?

The exclude tool adds also the 00_ prefix.

:D

Hi,

Not everything excluded yet.
There are the runway and taxiways. And also a default fence.
Tried the fence but no result.
Can I do it with SBuilder ? How ?

Greetz. José.

Airports and the things associated with them like boundary fences are different from autogen and library objects. As such, they would have to be worked on with one of the airport editors or by doing some XML coding. Have a look at FSXPlanner or ADE, both of which have forums here.

Hi,

I installed FSXPlanner and also the Java software.
First I need data of the airport. Where do I find this in FSX... or can I get it from elsewhere ?

Further I need a flatten that works in FSX... with what program ? FSX_KML perhaps ? Which tag to use ? Or write a flatten switch ?

Have to exclude the default fence, taxiways and a runway.
For the taxiways and the runway I could use a poly from FSSC. That works but if there is no flatten and general exclude, I see the odd default things.
I could make a GMAX poly, but as I tried before... the bitmap is ugly to see and therefore the poly from FSSC is very good. Therefore I think the flatten will solve the problem.

So many questions... probably hard to find. :mad:

Greetz. José.

---------------------------------
Looked closely into SBuilerX 310 and maybe I can use the flatten (legacy_flatten... strange word for a flatten type ?).

Hi,

Have made a flatten with FSXPlanner (FSX) and it works perfect. Sorry, my mistake: used SBuilderX for the flatten !

For excluding of the fence, the runway and the taxiways, I probably need to use the ADE program by Scruffyduck ?

Hope this "adventure" will end very soon because the major work is waiting.

I would have used SBuilderX to make the flatten!:p

I'm not sure if your removing an airport completely or if you're redoing it at a different location, but the advice would be much the same either way.

If you have the airport open in FSXPlanner, just go through and highlight the different parts and delete them. Save, compile, bingo... default is gone.

If you're relocating and planning to rebuild the airport, you can do the above to get rid of the default stuff and then reuse the same FSXPlanner file to rebuild.

Just make sure in FSXP that you go to the compile options area and check off the necessary delete items, such as runway, taxiways, etc.

Hi,

The ADE program is working like a charm. My scenery is almost cleared up and looks no longer as a mess. Thanks for this straight forward working tool from Jon Masterson, alias Scruffyduck. Thanks also for your help Meshman.

:) :) :)
