• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Multiple mdl into one bgl

I've searched the forum but did not find how to compile multiple MDL into one BGL.

Let say I have a big airport with single GUID number, I export into 3 mdl with different filename, so... how do I create with a xml file and compile that 3 mdl into 1 bgl file.

Or you guys have a brilliant technic for exporting a huge airport?

Hi,

You can include multiple MDL files in one BGL, that is how any object library works. For example my Library Creator XML tool can make such a BGL for you.

But each MDL must have an unique GUID. Since you use that GUID to position it in the scenery later on.

For most airport projects you will have dozen MDL files. Each building or group of buildings is generally a MDL file. That is much better for the performance than make everything as one big MDL.

Hi Arno,

I thought that a gmax file with a single GUID can export to many MDL.

so before export, I need to create a new GUID first ya?

it is hard if we still test and want back to export the first MDL to get the GUID we must create a new one.

Hi,

You can export them all with the same guid, but then you will never see all models. You will only see one of them. So each model needs an unique guid.

Yeup, correct Arno, so I post this thread.

Oh, my mistake.. wrong title, should not 'Multiple mdl into one bgl' but 'Multiple mdl into one GUID' :( coz I want to create once GUID only.

Now I got it each MDL with an unique GUID, thanks Arno.
;)
